Walter Huston starred in 52 films from 29-50 when he died. He died in the year The Furies came out, and he is one of my very favorites spanning the golden age that encompassed noir. He starred in very few classic noirs apparently. His performance in The Treasure of the Sierre Madre with Bogie is really a classic. Some consider this movie a noir. Suffice it to say it was a great movie . The movie of his eclipse he staged with Stanwyck with a riveting plot. He was a “star” in the Devil and Daniel Webster, also along with the actress Jane Darwell the mother in Grapes of Wrath and a vastly underrated actress. Yet Stanwyck is the epitome of the femme-fatale, in “The Furies” and her other movies. Such a versatile actor he was and comical as the ending of “Treasure” is a classic comical ending, and I have not seen it listed as a noir, though I have always thought it so.
