Having just seen the restored version of this cinematic masterpiece, I do well see the allegorical connection, which taken singularly is rather amazing. Lang’s film, after all, was originally released in 1936.

DeeDee, it is an allegorical play on words: today’s Shanghai looks like Lang’s vision of the futuristic city in his movie Metropolis.

At first I thought it was a photo of “futureland?” in the original disneyland in LA.
